I really enjoyed playing the original game as a child. I wanted to buy this remake a while ago, but was discouraged by the negative critical reviews, which do a real injustice to this game. I'm glad I finally purchased it.This is beautiful remake of one of Sierra's nicest and forgotten adventure games. Starting to play it, I was immediately taken back to the good-old-days. The nice graphics and speech give the game a good depth and a nostalgic feeling, which provide a special atmospheric mood for the game's golden story line.Thanks for making this game!. Awful point and click game, worse voice acting I have ever seen in a video game. My Score - 1/10. Horrible animations and voice acting. No guidance whatsoever. Everyone walks so slow and the pathfinding is terrible.. Robotic dialogue and music after taking new items makes me sick. . .. fun update of a classic game.. I've managed to grab this on a big sale and the game proves to be fun. I didn't get very far but it sure brings back some memories of what gaming used to be long ago.. While I think the price is a little high for what it is, I forked it over for nostalgia's sake. It is a quick game if you've played the original and have a vague recollection of the puzzle solutions, though I suppose the game play is extended if you opt to replay the game taking the 3 different routes to head to California. The graphics are very nice, though I did have to lower the resolution as the screen would flicker. It took a little while to get used to the point and click interface-- if you hold down the mouse button even a moment too long your character will "look" instead of "walk". In a few areas pointer placement is VERY particular when trying to change screens. What I loved, though, was that a double click automatically skipped you to the next screen. If you are a fan of the old sierra games or adventure gaming in general, you will enjoy this. If you are teetering between the original and the anniversary, definitely spring for the anniversary. The graphics really did improve the game.. Very nice game , but it does not work with my monitor resolution :(. I give it a + cause i sort of like it.
